After Nevada GOP caucus, Matt Drudge declares Donald Trump ‘the nominee’
“It’s going to be an awesome two months”, he told a raucous crowd at a Las Vegas casino. He even borrowed Ronald Reagan’s famous phrase to turn his loss in Nevada into a victory of sorts: “Tonight, we are one step closer to morning in America”.
Some states will still choose to use proportional methods, but large states like Florida and OH will start delivering delegates by the winner-take-all-method as soon as March 15.
Plan A went out the window when Rubio went 0-3 in the first three states.
“If you listen to the pundits, we weren’t expected to win too much, and now we’re winning, winning, winning the country”, Trump said at a victory rally in Las Vegas.
Not long after Trump’s win was certified in Nevada, Cruz’s campaign released a statement criticizing Rubio for not winning the state, but did not mention Trump at all.
Also, 60 percent of Nevada caucus-goers said that they preferred an outsider over someone with political experience as the next president, the highest percentage so far in any other Republican primary or caucus in this election cycle.
He made the same call from top Republicans for other candidates to drop out to consolidate the race so there can be a “clear alternative to Donald Trump”.

Separately, there had been multiple media reports of voter irregularities such as double voting or insufficient ballots, but the state’s Republican party said there were no official reports of such events.
And candidates here faced the most diverse electorate thus far in the race, more representative of the U.S. population as a whole.
The win keeps up Trump’s momentum heading into the slate of almost a dozen “Super Tuesday” contests on March 1, where Trump holds leads in a majority of the contests.
