After Paris, Americans see Trump, Clinton as most able to address
Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump has unleashed a stunning verbal assault on his nearest competitor Ben Carson, saying that United States voters were “stupid” to believe the doctor’s moving personal narrative and comparing him to a paedophile.
It is not possible, no matter what Trump argues, to send 11 million undocumented people back to their countries of origin.
The billionaire real estate tycoon pulled no punches during a Thursday night stump speech that devolved into a 95-minute rant in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the state that votes first in the presidential nomination process.
Trump even re-enacted Carson’s claim that he attempted to stab a friend during his adolescence and blasted Carson’s claims and character as “pathological”. “That’s what the people of America are concerned about, not so much politics as usual, politics of personal destruction – that’s what the American people are sick and exhausted of”.
“I’m hopeful at a few point that we’ve reached a level of maturity so we can actually deal with the issues that are facing us right now and stop getting into the mud”, he said.
At the Iowa rally, Trump also said U.S. Sen.
Trump, who has topped national polls of likely Republican primary voters for months, has until now enjoyed strong support among the key constituency of low-income, blue-collar, church-going voters, who have been attracted by his image as a straight-talking political outsider.
“He goes into the bathroom for a couple of hours, and he comes out, and now he’s religious”, Trump said.
“I would hate to do it, but it’s something that you’re going to have to strongly consider”, Trump told MSNBC on Monday.
The soft-spoken retired neurosurgeon has closed in on Trump’s early lead in many polls.
“He’s a good guy but he’s been spending a tremendous amount of advertising money in Iowa”, Trump said.
Ann Coulter has a lot to say about Paris attack! “It’s sad in many ways because we’re talking about so many negative topics, but in certain ways it’s handsome”.
Among all Republicans – not simply likely primary voters -Trump holds a substantial edge over Carson, at 34 percent to about 20 percent, according to the Reuters/Ipsos poll. “Now, if you’re pathological, there’s no cure for that, folks… a child molester, there’s no cure for that”.
Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush said the attack is part of “an organized effort to destroy Western civilization” during a radio interview with conservative host Hugh Hewitt on Friday night.
Trump appeared to be referring to the NY Police Department’s Demographics Unit, which The Associated Press reported in 2011 was spying on Muslims and mosques around the city with help from the Central Intelligence Agency.
“I had what I only can label a pathological temper – a disease – and this sickness controlled me, making me totally irrational”, Carson said in describing the incident with his mother. He hit the belt buckle. So it has happened to Donald Trump. How stupid are the people in Iowa?
CNN’s Erin Burnett asked Trump if he was satisfied by Carson’s assurances that his anger was in the past, and Trump said he didn’t know.
