AG officer’s termination contractual, says Apandi
Attorney-General Mohamed Apandi Ali said the work contract of Singaporean legal officer Jessica Gurmeet Kaur, who was involved in the probe of state investor 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), has been terminated in accordance with her terms of service. “No further comment”, Apandi said when contacted. Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) officer Jessica Gurmeet Kaur’s termination from employment was according to her terms of service, reported The Star.
News of Jessica’s sacking from the Attorney-General’s Chambers has created a buzz from Thursday night after sources familiar with her revealed that she had been sacked out of the blue.
Yesterday, it was reported that Jessica, who is facing possible deportation, will challenge her termination and also the revocation of her PR status through a judicial review in the coming days.
The Star report also quoted a source close to Jessica saying that it was better to keep her in Malaysia because “if she is in Singapore, all hell will break loose”.
Jessica’s bail is said to have been revoked last week.
He said the Singaporean would not be subject to Malaysian law such as the Official Secrets Act once out of the country.
Ms Kaur was arrested on August 1 along with former Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) adviser Rashpal Singh over leaks in the 1MDB probe.
It is learnt that several officers had been waiting outside Jessica’s condominium in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur on Thursday.
The special task force has been disbanded.
Jessica was part of a task force established to investigate 1MDB and the RM2.6 billion channelled into Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s personal bank accounts.
Rashpal, a former member of the MACC advisory board, was said to have met Sarawak Report editor Clare Rewcastle-Brown in London regarding information about 1MDB.
