Agent Carter Star Hayley Atwell Wants to Be the Next Doctor Who
Hayley Atwell has already excelled in an expanded universe that is usually dominated by men, has dragged its feet when it comes to making women more than companions, and keeps coming under fire for not doing more.
When asked recently during a fan Q&A about her desire to possibly appear on Doctor Who, she responded back with the best possible answer.
That’s right – forget just being on “Doctor Who“, Atwell wants to be the Doctor.
While his answer wasn’t a definite “no”, he has said in the past that he neither wants to be the champion of the idea nor the one that shuts it down. Otherwise, it makes ideal sense. “YOU THE FIRST FEMALE DOCTOR”, one fan tweeted. As a science-fiction show that constantly re-writes its own rules and mythology, this shouldn’t be outside the realm of possibility.
Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat has made it rather doubtful at times that he would be open to regenerating the Doctor as a woman while he’s in charge.
Ok, maybe this isn’t totally genius of me that “I called it”, but it’s just that it’s such a no-brainer. As a result of this gimmick, the show has used a whopping 13 men to play the character since episode one in 1963, ensuring the longevity of the series.
If ever there was an actor or actress born to play the role of The Doctor, then it’s most definitely HBC. And that’s not even mentioning her commitment to adding diversity to the second season of Agent Carter, her affinity for pranks, and her love of cake.
What do you robots think?
One great thing about having Hayley as the Time Lord would be her brilliant behind-the-scenes DubSmashing antics.
