Ahead of his first speech to Congress, Trump floats #SOTU survey
President Trump vowed to vigorously target illegal immigrants who “threaten our communities and prey on our citizens”.
He was met with nearly unanimous applause during his speech and received a number of standing ovations.
“I am here to deliver a message of unity”, Trump started the address, and went ahead immediately to pay tribute to the Black History Month and condemning semitism, in what is largely viewed as his best speech ever. I’ve further ordered the Departments of Homeland Security and Justice, along with the Department of Stat and the Director of National Intelligence, to coordinate an aggressive strategy to dismantle the criminal cartels that have spread across the nation. Once again, he put victims of crimes committed by immigrants in the audience, a standard trope of his from the campaign.
The choice of guests from both Trump and Warren seem to allude to Trump’s hard-line immigration policies and his executive order on immigration, which prohibited travel into the U.S.by refugees from Iraq and six other Muslim-majority countries.
Those are battles yet to come, as Trump and a GOP Congress work out a budget.
Wait. What? This is Donald Trump?
But now that in his first speech to the Congress he condemned hate and evil, and the act of hate against the Indian techie, let’s hope it might change the mindsets of the of the white community and be good for the immigrant community in the United States of America.
Trump’s talk of building a “great, great wall” along the southern border drew furrowed brows and glares from the group. Both men received commemorative copies of the speech, presented by Trump to them as he took the podium.
Trump’s speech invoking the American spirit comes as the much of the country (especially the popular vote crowd) is focused on recovery from the biggest electoral upset since Truman beat Dewey and amid fears related to loss of health care and growth of hegemony.
During his speech, he acknowledged the slain Navy SEAL Ryan Owens and his widow, who was in attendance.
There was no shortage of people who said that Obama would be bad for business, but the S&P 500 tripled during his 8 years in power. While lacking details, Trump said he wanted to provide a massive tax relief to the USA middle class and cut corporate tax rates.
He suggested he would get rid of the current law’s requirement that all Americans carry insurance coverage, saying that “mandating every American to buy government-approved health insurance was never the right solution for America”.
Speaking to a joint session of Congress for the first time on Tuesday night, Trump said he will ask Congress to pass a bill that would lead to $1 trillion in investments in a national infrastructure program.
