‘AHS: Hotel’ episode 9 recap: The illusion of control
The two are getting dressed in suits, in preparation for the wedding, as Drake talks about The Countess being “the one”.
The Countess is one force to be reckoned with, and trust me, you don’t want to be on her bad side. She enlists Liz Taylor (Denis O’Hare) for helping her with some small wedding tasks. The Countess then told Liz Taylor she hopes she finds true love, which was just brutal. The website speculates that the title of Episode 10 “She Gets Revenge” appears to be indicating at the “outcome of the “revenge” in Episode 9″. He is also seen conspiring with Ramona, saying that “it has to be tonight”.
The Countess Is Playing Donovan-and He Knows It. One of Max’s friends wants to kill her, since they made a rule to kill anyone who comes in contact with them. She swears that it will only be them two from now. Her mind is occupied with Will, Donovan, Ramona, and March. Iris is glad to hear this. But instead we found out more about Alex, the Countess and Valentino, and Ramona and Donovan’s revenge plan. Hint: By the end of the episode.
If you were at all curious why it is that it took 20+ years for Ramona to finally set her sights on revenge against the Countess, wonder no more. Iris, the hotel manager, seems to be used to the unusual things that occur in the hotel and only sticks around since her dear son Donovan lives in the hotel with the Countess, who is played by Lady Gaga. So, now she has to make sure she and Donovan aren’t roped into her guilt – even if they actually are “in cahoots” with her. She will visit the Hotel Cortez in the episode, reported MTV.
That is, after James March introduced the not-so-proud step-dad to her little one Bartholomew, whom he’s freaked to encounter because he doesn’t think the “thing” looks human.
Back at the Cortez, poor Drake didn’t even make it to the honeymoon. Will Drake is disgusted by the child, which infuriates the Countess. Mr. March jumps in and helps The Countess get the contractor on board.
The Countess is appalled that Will would ever insult her (undoubtedly terrifying) baby, and knocks him out. Ramona gets Will Drake to free her, only to kill him and drink his blood as, you guessed it, Miss Evers watches with an “I told you so” look on her face. He was about to die then the Countess saved him by turning him into a vampire – yes. The two (Valentino’s wife is out shopping with Countess’ card) discuss the future now that they are together once again. She proceeds to murder them – really just because she can – and Donovan finds her afterwords, seemingly impressed by her new attitude. When will Donovan learn to always listen to your mother?
The parallels between Season 1 of FX’s “American Horror Story” and the current season are becoming more and more noticeable as the season progresses.
