AIDS Resource Center opens new HIV medical home in Madison

“I’ll turn 60 next year and I’ve had HIV for 34 years – that doesn’t mean that I’m not dealing with a whole ton of health issues that it’s not just popping a pill a day”.
The World Health Organization reports there were around 15 million people receiving ART by the end of 2014.
The shocking statistic and the fight to reduce this number was the focus at the latest National Research Foundation Science for Society lecture titled “Getting to Zero” held at the UKZN in Durban on World Aids Day on Tuesday.
The non-profit agency is expanding to help serve the growing number of people living and aging with HIV, who can face barriers to staying healthy. “The unfortunate thing for me is, we still have about 50,000 new cases each year in the united states.”, said Dr. Linda Van Etta, Infectious Disease Specialist at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth. “Surely there is no need for all those who are HIV negative to be positive as this represents failure of our programmes to save them”, said Minister Haufiku.
“It’s important to be tested because if you’re not tested and you don’t know your status, you could be spreading it and not even aware”, said LaVere.
He also encouraged his countrymen to test for HIV and TB so that those who are infected can get treatment.
That is why Rep. Lewis is visiting Grady’s infectious disease program today to highlight the need for education and testing among Atlanta metro area residents. People are actually paying attention to the fact that this is not a disease that’s going to kill you within the next six months from your diagnosis. “And increasingly we are able to refine our efforts and be more precise in our ability to reach people who might otherwise be left behind”, he added.
“The Health Ministry will continue to work closely with its partners in creating much needed awareness on HIV/AIDS”.
