Air Algeria plane lands safely after technical fault
The plane went off all radar for nearly an hour but it has landed safely, local media reports.
Plane tracking site Flight Radar 24 now lists the plane’s status as “unknown”.
However, experts have said aircraft do not show any activity under 17,000ft on this particular flight path.
Information about the flight disappearing was also reported by several other tracking websites.
The initial worries of a crash were sparked when the plane completely disappeared from a number of flight radar tracking websites.
The Sun has contacted Air Algerie for more details on what happened.
He added that the nature of the failure “is still unknown for the moment”.
It was confirmed the plane had landed safely shortly before 5pm.
The Air Algerie airline’s passenger flight AH1020, presumed missing earlier on Saturday, has landed in the Algiers airport, a source in the airline told RIA Novosti. Flight radar shows the plane turning back on itself and cruising over the Mediterranean towards Mahon.
