Air France flights from LA, DC to Paris diverted due to threats
Shortly afterwards, an Air France flight heading for Paris’s Charles De Gaulle Airport from Dulles Airport in Washington DC was diverted to Halifax, Nova Scotia, due to another bomb threat.
The threats were received after the flights had departed, the airline said. Airport employees told Jeff employee buses were being re-routed to get passengers off the plane.
SALT LAKE CITY Officials say two Air France flights bound for Paris from the US had to be diverted because of anonymous threats issued after they took off, but both planes landed safely. The Halifax Airport tweeted that 262 passengers and crew members had been aboard.
Halifax airport spokesman Peter Spurway said the Air France Boeing 777 jet was diverted at 10:15 pm USA eastern time and was sitting at the end of the airport’s main runway. The concerns have heightened in the wake of the terror attacks in Paris.
Authorities in both the US and Canada were preparing to search the planes with dogs, officials said.
“It’s an RCMP matter”, Spurway said referring to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. One of those flights was diverted to Salt Lake City.
