Airstrikes Intensified Against ISIS; Main Targets Oil Tanker Trucks and
IS makes large amounts of money from oil it produces from seized facilities. These oil plants are the places of ISIS interest as they are the main source of income.
The US-led military coalition against ISIS has been rapidly increasing its pace of operations against militant targets in both Syria and Iraq.
The bomb camera footage, of USA and coalition forces aircraft destroying a reported 283 oil tankers near Al Hassakah and Dayr Az Zawr, Syria, on November 22, 2015, by Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR) headquarters, uses the term Da’ish in the video comments and runs the term Daesh in the video’s cover page. The strike was carried out by A-10 Warthogs and AC-130 Specter Gunships.
Till now the USA did not target the oil tankers fearing that those will kill the civilian drivers.
The vehicles were targeted at a “fuel collection point” in the Syrian city of Deir ez-Zor.
On Nov. 15, the US began targeting oil tanker trucks by bombing 116 of them. And, according to The New York Times, ISIS is estimated to be able to earn $40 million a month through the production and sale of oil on the black market.
Meanwhile, Syrian troops backed by Russian airstrikes captured areas from the Islamic State in the central province of Homs on Monday, state media and a monitoring group said.
Mr Davis said there were no reports of civilian casualties.
In September, an intelligence sharing center was set up in Baghdad by Russia, Iraq, Iran and Syria to coordinate efforts to combat the Islamic State group.
Just as in that earlier case, U.S. jets on Saturday first conducted a low-flying “show of force” over the trucks, then dropped leaflets telling drivers to flee.
