Ajax boss Frank de Boer hints at an interest in Liverpool job
Steve McClaren is under no pressure from the Newcastle board with the Magpies prepared to give him all the time he needs to get the job right.
Ajax manager Frank de Boer has fuelled speculation that he could take over in the Premier League in the near future, after admitting he is considering leaving the Netherlands very soon, as per BBC World Service (via the Daily Express).
“I am looking maybe for another adventure”. But if Barcelona did come in with a big-money offer, you do wonder whether Liverpool would decide to cash in or not.
High profile pair Jurgen Klopp and Carlo Ancelotti have both been associated with Rodgers’ position in recent weeks, but De Boer may have talked himself into contention.
Rodgers, whose men go to Everton in the Merseyside derby on Sunday, gained a morale-boosting win at home to Everton last weekend but was held in the Europa League by Swiss side Sion at Anfield on Thursday night.
He has enjoyed great success with Ajax since taking the head coach role in 2010, leading them to four successive Eredivisie titles, and building a side of young talents from their own academy or spotted elsewhere and brought in.
“If there is an interesting club that I think with my quality I can make that team better – if I can, then I will take that chance”.
“They are fantastic clubs”.
De Boer is a manager who would most likely be in the frame should the hot seat become vacant at Anfield.
Liverpool FC boss Brendan Rodgers is under considerable pressure after a poor 2014-15 season and a bad start to the current campaign which has not only seen the Reds win a lowly three out of ten games but also put in a few of the worst performance of his tenure.
