Akali Dal rejects resolutions passed by radicals’ ‘Sarbat Khalsa’
The convocation was attended by almost 50,000 people, including Congress party leaders and radical Sikhs in Punjab.
A secret report prepared by central intelligence agencies and reviewed by Mint says operatives of outfits that are banned in India such as Babbar Khalsa worldwide (BKI), Khalistan Commando Force (KDV), Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF) and global Sikh Youth Federation (ISYF) were involved in collecting funds and sending them to their “intermediaries” based in Punjab and Pakistan. On the other hand, Mand sought Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal’s social boycott.
“Mann and Bhai Mokham Singh have been taken into preventive custody”, Amritsar police commissioner J.S. Aulakh said.
Reiterating his stance about Sikh sovereignty, Mann stated that he was, he is and he will stand in favour of establishment of a buffer Sikh state.
Police said that the security in Amritsar, especially in and around the Golden Temple complex, had been strengthened.
Sources said India pressed for action again these groups who are working towards breathing a fresh lease of life to the movement for a separate state within Punjab.
Furthermore, election to SGPC will be now held under the control of central Govt of BJP/RSS, which is already damaging Sikhism by infiltrating in SGPC through its newly appointed chief secretary Mr. Harcharan Singh, an RSS ideologue and RSS has already got published a distorted history book of Sikhs, which has been recently withdrawn by SGPC on protest by Sikh intellectuals.
The Sarbat Khalsa was called by the Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) leader, Simranjit Singh Mann, and United Akali Dal President Mohkam Singh to basically discuss what the media described as the the “issues of sacrilege and change in institutional leadership of the Sikhs”.
Apart from Akal Takht, which is the supreme temporal seat of the Sikhs, the yesterday’s congregation (Sarbat Khalsa) also “removed” jathedars of two other Takhts- Takht Kesgarh Sahib and Takht Damdama Sahib. The goal of the organisation is creation of Khalistan and responsibility has been given to its leadership to propagate the Khalistan ideology among the Sikh masses.
Mand, however, asserted that Badals’ political influence over Sikh institutions must be ended.
“These forces have created an unrest among the community”, the Akal Takht head said.
“It was hatched in every house across Punjab hit and hurt by your misgovernance, graft, failure in agriculture, closure of industry, drug smuggling, loot of the state, subversion of the SGPC and Akal Takhat authority, desecration of the Guru Granth Sahib, killing of peaceful protestors and framing of innocent youth in false cases”, he said.
The Sikh clerics led by Akal Takht head Gurbachan Singh have been in the eye of storm after their pardon to the Dera head. I, however, am ready for this job only on one condition: “that all Sikh bodies appoint me unanimously by participating in the Sarbat Khalsa”, reads a letter allegedly written by Hawara, now lodged in Tihar Jail. Besides this PTC News is showing a few “unlawfully” recorded phone calls to support Badal’s claim that the November 10 gathering was a conspiracy of the Congress party.
