Al Gore hosting climate telethon from Paris’ Eiffel Tower
Officials in France and elsewhere believe the attacks were coordinated, and France has closed its borders to try to prevent further terrorism. According to Variety reports, on Friday afternoon, networks were hustled to alter schedules and consider preemptions.
ABC has replaced its regularly scheduled 20/20 by a live edition of the show named, “Paris Under Attack” as did Nightline, which will be anchored by Juju Chang. NBC canceled its live taping of the comedy Undateable.
IRISH supergroup U2 has canceled its scheduled concert in Paris after terrorists gunned down more than 100 at a rock concert at a small club.
A Paris webcast of an all-star marathon event about climate change was suspended after the deadly attacks in that city Friday night. U2 is hoping and praying that all of their fans in Paris were safe.
Former U.S. Vice President, TV network founder and environmental activist Al Gore is now hosting a live 24-hour webcast from the foot of the Eiffel Tower, the AP reports.
“Out of solidarity with the French people and the city of Paris, we have chose to suspend our broadcast”, it says. “Our thoughts are with all who have been affected and the entire nation”. “We send our condolences to the families of those who have been killed or injured”, the concert’s website said.
The day-long live event aimed at advocating climate action ahead of the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Paris, France will also feature appearances from Pharrell Williams, Elton John, Hozier, Joss Stone, Jon Bon Jovi, Thirty Seconds to Mars and Fall Out Boy.
