Al Jazeera America reporter defends HGH report naming Peyton Manning, wife
When Guthrie asked if the documentary had any evidence against Manning, Davis replied “We aren’t making the allegation against Peyton Manning”.
Most media following up on Al Jazeera’s report have seen a clear implication made in the documentary, “The Dark Side”, that Peyton Manning was the eventual recipient of the drug shipments.
While that’s true, the report clearly implies that Peyton Manning used the HGH to recover from neck surgery in 2011.
We all naturally produce HGH to help with cell growth and regeneration, with women producing about twice as much of the hormones than males. The NFL and players union added human growth hormone testing to the collective bargaining agreement signed in 2011 but the side didn’t agree to testing terms until 2014. However, after such serious allegations were made, the news company have since stated that Manning himself was not accused of taking the drugs, simply of shipping them to his house under the name of his wife. But the five-time NFL MVP emphatically said that he is angry at the report that he received HGH.
Manning, three members of the Green Bay Packers – Clay Matthews, Julius Peppers and Mike Neal – and Steelers outside linebacker James Harrison were all named in the report.
Al Jazeera had no comment on Sly’s walkback and Manning’s legal threat.
“We are thoroughly familiar with Peyton’s tireless work habits, his medical history, and, most importantly, his integrity”, the Colts said, according to the Indy Star.
A statement released by Dr. Dale Guyer, owner of the Guyer Insitute, claims Sly was in fact an unpaid intern at the Indianapolis anti-aging clinic two years after Manning received treatment in the facility’s hyperbaric chamber, and was not associated in any way with the former Super Bowl MVP’s recovery. The NFL can’t compel Charles Sly, who was either lying when being secretly recorded or is lying when recanting his story, to cooperate. “It never happened. Never”.
“The statements on any recordings or communications that Al Jazeera plans to air are absolutely false and incorrect”, Sly said.
In its documentary, Al Jazeera reported that Sly had worked at the Guyer clinic in 2011. “I can say with absolute certainty that they are not”.
Manning joined the Broncos in 2012 and had a record-setting run, going 47-15 until he tore the plantar fascia in his left foot on November 15. “What Charlie Sly says is that the Guyer Institute shipped human growth hormone to Ashley Manning in Florida”. It would never be under Peyton’s name.
