Alabama and Louisville opening 2018 in Orlando
Since beginning the neutral site games under Coach Nick Saban, Alabama is undefeated in those games, winning five.
The Cardinals will face Alabama in the Orlando Kickoff at the Orlando Citrus Bowl on September 1, 2018, according to ESPN.com reporter Brett McMurphy.
Non-conference games held at neutral sites are nothing new to Crimson Tide fans.
Arlington, Texas, has become another popular site for these types of matchups, but Orlando will begin hosting such games next year when Florida State and Ole Miss converge on the Citrus Bowl.
Alabama now has the next three season openers booked for neutral site games, which means plenty of money coming Alabama’s way. They will also play USC in Arlington in 2016 and Florida State in Atlanta in 2017. This followed a season-opening game in Arlington in 2012 against Michigan.
In addition, the current contract for U of L’s home-and-home Governor’s Cup rivalry with Kentucky runs through 2019 with those games serving as both teams’ regular-season finales. The Cardinals will open the 2015 season in Atlanta against Auburn, and will face Purdue in Indianapolis to open the 2017 season. The teams haven’t played since 1991, a 34-7 victory by Louisville in the Fiesta Bowl. Alabama leads the overall series 2-1, having won 24-3 in 1976 and 55-6 in 1977 in Tuscaloosa.
