Alabama Crimson Tide Rolls Over Mississippi State Bulldogs In SEC Showdown

Alabama (9-1, 6-1 SEC) easily survived its last major test before the Iron Bowl in two weeks. Prescott said he learned from that experience. “It changed the play-calling because we were behind chains trying to catch up at that point”.
After another 200-yard day, I don’t think there’s any doubt that Henry will at least get a trip to NY. In the third quarter, the Bulldogs thoroughly dominated the stat sheet. He was out there on special teams because he was the best guy for that job, and I don’t think you can blame the coaching staff for him getting hurt – he could have been hurt on any play. “A couple of them have been nullified by penalties that were very positive returns…. You can’t do that down there”.
MSU forced one turnover, a Brandon Bryant interception in the first half, but the offense couldn’t turn it into any points. Brandon Holloway had a 19-yard rush down to the 3. Moreover, he also had a 69-yard punt return for a touchdown to his credit on the afternoon.
“It wasn’t like that flipped momentum”, Mullen said. “To me they played great red zone defense and got the big plays”.
His candidacy was bolstered by 204 yards on 22 carries and two touchdowns on Saturday, including a fourth-quarter 65-yard run against a Mississippi State defense that had grown about as interested in making contact as fifth-grader at his first dance.
When Prescott had time he executed.
This matchup favors Alabama in several facets, including how Mississippi State is allowing 4.7 yards per carry in the SEC this season (not a good sign with Derrick Henry coming to town).
“You give up those plays, it’s not going to happen”, Mullen said. It seemed like Henry was limited in the first quarter when he had just eight rushing attempts. The offense still can’t do much of anything, but the defense stuffed Kentucky time and again on the way to a nice win to keep hope alive. Mississippi State kicker Westin Graves drilled a 39-yard field goal to cut it to 24-6 in the third.
The first sack led to a second-and-17. Trent Richardson rushed for 1,679 yards in 2011.
Notable numbers: Alabama sacked Bulldogs’ quarterback Dak Prescott nine times, the most sacks in a game by the Crimson Tide since 1998 against Vanderbilt.
The back-and-fourth movement led to MSU rushing for 149 yards but finishing with a net of 89.
Alabama’s still earning its reputation as a team that thrives on running and stopping the run, but has shown plenty of quick-scoring ability, too. “The players were really concerned, but they know they don’t make them like they used to”. But Mississippi State is 5-1 against the spread in its last six home games and 4-1 ATS in its last five conference matchups. He made a lot of big plays but was unable to ever get the ball into the endzone.
The Alabama Crimson Tide can not afford to let up. With the talent in Starkville now, especially at the quarterback position, one has to wonder if the win did not come Saturday, when will it come.
Wilson totaled 32 assists in the match, pushing her career total to 5,581, which passes Brigitte Slack’s previous career record of 5,578, originally set in 2007.
