Alabama offensive lineman arrested, charged with DUI
According to Sam Cooper of Yahoo!
The 6-foot-5, 340-pounder was a 15-game starter at right guard in 2015.
The guard had just been named to the preseason All-SEC second team, as voted by reporters for SEC Media Days. Taylor was demoted to second string in the spring A-Day game, reportedly because of his weight. Over the course of his career, Alabama head coach Nick Saban has had to deal with a fair amount off-the-field issues when it comes to his players. Despite the arrests, Saban previously announced that Robinson and Jones faced “internal discipline” but will have a chance to play in Alabama’s season-opener against the USC Trojans – which could bode well for Taylor going forward so it seems.
Taylor is now listed at 345 pounds on the latest roster on the team’s official website.
Robinson also was charged with a felony for possession of a stolen gun. Therefore, Taylor was already in Saban’s doghouse. Without Taylor, the Crimson Tide won’t have a senior in the starting lineup.
The Crimson Tide are still the favorites to win the SEC in 2016, but these series of arrests to important upperclassmen may end up being cracks in the foundation in Alabama’s plans to three-peat in the SEC this fall.
