Alabama QB Jake Coker held out of practice with minor foot injury
“I can’t make it happen, as bad as I want to make it happen”. The Crimson Tide opens the season September 5 against Wisconsin at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
“Somebody’s got to make it happen”, Saban said. Many crowned Coker the favorite to start for Alabama this season, as they did previous year.
“We met with Ohio State and TCU in the offseason”, Saban said. “Being experienced as I am and the age that comes with it. So working in conjunction with the quarterbacks, and I think they’ve done a great job so far”.
“We visited a lot of people in the offseason to try and come up with the best system. And if it doesn’t get decided like it didn’t when AJ (McCarron) and Phillip Sims were here, they both played a quarter, a quarter, a quarter, and a quarter in the first game and that’s how we figured it out”.
Alabama coach Nick Saban was frustrated with his quarterback situation following last Saturday’s scrimmage and that frustration likely was exacerbated today with the announcement that potential starting quarterback frontrunner Jacob Coker would miss time with a foot injury.
Alabaam center Ran Kelly said he wasn’t sure if Coker was injured during the team’s scrimmage on Saturday. Alabama practiced twice Monday, wearing full pads in the morning and helmets and shorts in the evening.
