Alabama RB Derrick Henry reportedly declaring for the 2016 NFL Draft
Henry had 2,219 yards and 28 touchdowns en route to the Heisman Trophy and a national championship.
After a dominant and storybook season, Alabama junior running back Derrick Henry announced his intentions to enter the National Football League draft on Thursday, according to Joe Schad of ESPN. He ends his college career with a school-record 20 consecutive games with a rushing touchdown. Henry has yet to confirm the news, but did tweet the following message earlier today.
The senior transfer improved from a “priority free agent” to “late-rounder” during his dominant College Football Playoff run (621 passing yards, four touchdowns, no interceptions).
With the running back position devalued in the draft in recent years, Henry’s draft stock isn’t easy to assess. CBSSports.com ranks him as the second best running back prospect and the 37th best overall prospect, while WalterFootball.com also ranks Henry as the second best running back prospect. Both Robinson and Allen are projected first-round picks.
Here are five NFL teams that could conceivably draft Henry in the 2016 NFL Draft this upcoming spring.
