Alan Shearer gives verdict on Jose Mourinho to Manchester United

The United hierarchy are reportedly considering Van Gaal’s position at Old Trafford amid a six-game winless streak, headlined by three consecutive defeats after Saturday’s shock 2-1 loss at home to Norwich City.

Club officials are faced with a huge decision over the Dutchman’s future, after learning that first-choice replacement Jose Mourinho is being courted by his former club Real Madrid.

Alan Shearer said on Monday he thinks Mourinho – who was relieved of his duties as Chelsea manager last week – would be the flawless man to take over at United because he knows how to handle big clubs and big egos and has a proven track record of winning major trophies.

Ferguson, who bossed United for 26 successful seasons before calling time on his career in May 2013, is good friends with both Van Gaal and Mourinho.

Phil Jones has insisted that despite the recent slump in form from Manchester United in recent weeks the mood in the camp isn’t as low as it was during the David Moyes tenure.

Manchester United has always been known to promote youth players, which is not the way how Mourinho operates.

As a result, Henry is convinced that it would be a smart move on United’s part to appoint the former Chelsea boss with Van Gaal possibly nearing the end of his tenure.

“We all feel frustrated, same as last week, and we need to win a game as quickly as possible because it will change our mood and give us confidence, I’m sure of that”.

According to reports by ESPN, Manchester United agents have been in touch with Mourinho, regarding him replacing Van Gaal as the next Old Trafford manager.

“No matter how tough the situation can be, I’m not even thinking about giving up”.

As well as the Mourinho option, Pep Guardiola will be available in the close-season as he is leaving Bayern Munich – making it a safe bet there will be little festive cheer when van Gaal sits down for his Christmas dinner on Friday. I just don’t get it.

“If they go for him it will show the fear Man United’s board have got and the sections of the support have of other teams getting away from them”.
