Alcohol, food to be sold at Florida gun range
“Guns, whether you’re planning to have a drink afterwards or not, will not be allowed in the café area at all”, he said.
A 12-lange gun range connected to a restaurant that will serve alcohol has been allowed to open in Daytona Beach, Florida. Customers can bring their own guns to the range or rent one on site.
He noted that similar gun range-restaurant complexes exist in other states, and haven’t had problems, and said that there will be equipment on hand to scan all driver’s licenses when alcohol is ordered.
According to Huffington Post, Daytona Beach commissioners approved a measure Wednesday night that permits the opening of the establishment, which will be run by Port Orange entrepreneurs Ron Perkinson and Edward Staudt.
If the ID is revealed to belong to someone who ordered alcohol, then that person will be barred from using the gun range.
Perkinson told commissioners he plans to turn the vacant building into an upscale restaurant, not a bar.
“To the critics, I say, you’re right”, he said. Yet Perkinson insists he is “not trying to mix the two”, but only wants to “give you a nice meal before you go home. Everything is going to be revolved around safety”, he said.
The owners also promised they would keep a watch list of customers who cause trouble and call police when necessary. Some commissioners were concerned about whether it is safe to allow people to shoot guns while under the influence, but others said that there are gun ranges in Daytona Beach with “fewer safety precautions” than this new business.
The commissioners were reportedly swayed by the business’ claims of strict rules against shooting after drinking. Is selling booze at this Florida gun range a good idea?
