Alert sounded in West Bengal airports, rail stations over terror threat
She is slated to go to the hospital to see President Pranab Mukherjee’s ailing wife on Tuesday, said a close aide of Chief Minister.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will meet his West Bengal counterpart and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee who arrives in the national capital on Tuesday, August 11.
Speaking to mediapersons at the state secretariat, Mamata said: “An alert has been sounded at airports, railway stations, important public places and all vital installations across the state”.
Banerjee further said that Nadia district of Bengal had been awarded nationally for the cleanliness campaign.
“West Bengal had embarked on the “Nirmal Bangla Abhiyan” three years back and we were the first one in the country having undertaken such a campaign”, Banerjee told reporters on way to Delhi.
On the Independence Day, Banerjee said, she has asked all clubs, organisations, MPs, MLAs, municipalities, corporations, gram panchayats, blocks and zilla parishads to organise a cleanliness drive for an hour from 11 AM keeping their vicinity and roads clean from garbage. She said she has received a detailed input from the Intelligence Bureau in this regard.
Following the IB alert, security has been beefed up in the state, while the police launched a massive search operation after the recovery, the sources said.
