Alessandro Diamanti not ready to start, says Watford boss Quique Sanchez Flores
Officials are often made out to be the villains of the piece when it comes to any sport, but Watford’s Spanish manager Quique Sanchez Flores says he loves the high-quality refereeing in the Premier League.
“We need to find a plan to win on Saturday”. “From the last match, we don’t have to change anything”.
An influx of overseas players have joined Watford since the Pozzo family completed their takeover of the club in 2012, and over the course of another busy transfer window they recruited 15 new players while sending nine out on loan and allowing a further three to permanently leave.
Bournemouth were dealt a huge blow against Stoke when talisman striker Calum Wilson picked up an injury which will see him side-lined for up to 6 months.
Sanchez Flores has impressed in developing a reasonable team from so many new players, but they have been inconsistent in front of goal and he now wants to witness an improvement.
Flores said: ‘Anya is very, very happy at Watford. “We are creating the same level of attempts as the opponent and it is important to improve the quality of crosses”. When we came to talking about contracts this was always my first port of call. The problem in the last 15 minutes was we played long balls and I don’t like to play like this with those centre defenders.
“One of the loneliest things about being injured is the isolation, but the thing they have in common is that the injured players will have each other to lean on”, added Howe. We have to improve that. “Obviously our main aim is to stay in the Premier League but after that we’re going to try and keep on progressing, and the sky’s the limit”.
