Alex Rodriguez may soon get a call from Miami Marlins
President of baseball operations Michael Hill spoke about whether or not Alex Rodriguez could be a potential replacement and the BBTN crew also weighed in on the possibility. However, if he can get back to his 2013, 2014 form where he had 73 RBIs in both seasons and the Marlins sign him, the Marlins playoff hopes are still intact.
With rumors about possible interest from the Marlins swirling, Alex Rodriguez has come out and said he will not play again this season.
A Miami-native, Rodriguez played his final game for the New York Yankees last Friday.
“We caught a break right there”. There’s been information out there about his situation. Despite still being in the playoff run, the dual injuries have put the Marlins in a bind, who are already neck-a-neck with the Cardinals for the second wild-card spot. To overcome the loss of Stanton, Hill said, the front office will consider all options – including Rodriguez.
When asked whether the team would reach out to A-Rod, Hill said, “I think we’re going through that process right now”. It sounds insane, but Marlins manager, Don Mattingly said,”There’s no reason [Rodriguez] couldn’t play first”. “It looked like what you see when guys have hamstring (injuries), they just pull up”. It stinks. You try to do your job and go out and try to win your team a game, and you don’t do that and it’s frustrating. He hurt his left ring finger banging his hand on the roof of the dugout at Wrigley Field celebrating a teammate’s home run on August 3.
Chicago’s Adam Eaton homered on the game’s first pitch.
Pujols was ejected by home plate umpire Clint Fagan in the eighth inning after a called third strike, forcing him into the clubhouse for the conclusion of Cleveland’s 5-4 victory over the visiting Angels. “There is some weakness and soreness in my hand. But it was a blooper, and he charged it hard and made a flawless throw”.
The 29-year-old suffered the loss against San Francisco on Wednesday despite surrendering one run in five frames and has scattered nine hits across 14 1/3 innings in his last six appearances.
The Marlins are already thin in their starting rotation with Wei-Yin Chen out indefinitely with an elbow sprain. The Marlins have not announced who will start on Tuesday. The ace right-hander was skipped this time through the order as part of a plan to limit his innings this season. Mattingly said it probably would force Conley to miss a turn, so the Marlins made a decision to put him on the DL to give him a breather. Yes, the Marlins could always use a few more fans in the stands and the publicity, but with the team in the pennant race, do they need the distraction? It looks like it’s going to be for pretty much the rest of the year.
“It means we’ve got to find another way to win, simple as that”, Mattingly said.
This season Stanton won the Home Run Derby at the All Star Game, but has struggled to hit for average posting numbers of.244/.329/.496, along with 25 home runs and 70 runs batted in, in 103 games played.
The player likely to pick up Stanton’s playing time is the newest member of the 3,000 hit club, Ichiro Suzuki. Manager Don Mattingly said after the contest that Stanton was done for the season. “We did it early in the year”. Chicago has 10 players on the DL, although 2B Brett Lawrie (left hamstring) went 2-for-3 with a double on Saturday in a rehab assignment at Double-A Birmingham.
“I ain’t complaining. It’s a blessing”, Andino, 32, said of his return to the big leagues. I walked out with him after the game and he was limping.
