Alexander Ovechkin scores 500th goal
The Moscow native has registered 933 points (500 goals, 433 assists) in 801 career games with Washington and became the first player in franchise history to reach 900 career points on October 20, 2015 at Calgary.

Goal 300 – On April 5, 2011, Ovechkin (25) became the third player in Caps history to score 300 or more goals with his one-timer against James Reimer of the Toronto Maple Leafs. His milestone goal, scored at 16:19 of the second period, gave a four goal lead to his team.

Justin Williams, T.J. Oshie, Zach Sill, Dmitry Orlov and Tom Wilson also scored for Washington, which has won 10 successive home games.
Since entering the league a decade ago in the 2005-06 season, Ovechkin has scored 147 more goals and tallied 46 more points than any other player. He’s also a three-time victor of the Hart Trophy and a five-time victor of the Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophy as the league’s leading scorer.
Devils 2, Wild 1 • In St. Paul, Minn., Jon Merrill put New Jersey ahead in the third period with his first goal of the season, Cory Schneider made 17 saves and the Devils beat Minnesota to snap a season-high three-game losing streak.
“They have to have the ability to let it go and not beat themselves up over it”, Cameron said. The 43-year-old leads the Panthers in goals (15) and points (31) this season (39 GP). This was a historic night, and Ovechkin saw this as something he and the Capitals accomplished together.
