Alice Johnson On President Trump: ‘Someone Finally Had Mercy On Me’
President Donald Trump granted a sentence commutation to a 63-year-old drug offender whose cause has been championed by reality television personality Kim Kardashian, the White House announced on Wednesday.

Trump commuted Johnson’s life sentence on Wednesday, following Kardashian’s high-profile campaign. “Because I felt like she’s was a good person-you can see that in her”, Kardashian said in the exclusive interview. It was a moment I will never forget.
Prosecutors are increasingly abusing their power; Americans that violate some sort of civil, regulatory, or ethical rule are being charged criminally and turned in to convicted felons and destroyed forever because it looks better on some prosecutor’s performance evaluation and enhances his or her ability to run for public office.
Kardashian West welcomed Trump’s action on Twitter, writing: “BEST NEWS EVER!”. “I want you to brace yourself, because here’s a sentence I don’t often say: Donald Trump did somethin’ good”, the late-night show host said.
“I knew it had to be some news…” But who is Alice Johnson and why has her case gained such publicity?
“She’s looking at the bigger picture. I knew that if I have this meeting, I can’t go in there and talk about all the policies that I don’t agree with”, she said. Just the thought of that moment brings me to tears again, it was the most incredible moment of my life’.
“I’m focused and I could separate my feelings about certain policies”. “I’m free to live life”.
Another attorney, Brittany K. Barnett, said earlier that Johnson feels overwhelmed with emotion and like she’s been “resurrected from the dead”.
Alice Johnson reunites with her family members June 6, 2018. “I’m sure she has plans, but right now, she is focused on reuniting with them”.
On Thursday morning, she saw her first sunrise in years at home in Memphis, Tennessee.
Kim “definitely” will continue to work on criminal justice issues, Holley said. “He was compassionate. He was sympathetic to her”, during their meeting. One week after Kardashian personally lobbied on her behalf at the White House, her request was granted.
Do you think more celebrities should involve themselves in politics?
“I applaud her efforts”, Heyman said. “I have to get credit to where Alice’s whole team had been working on this for years”.
Heyman acknowledged that every influencer has limitations, even the force that is Kim Kardashian West.
When asked what she’s noticing now that she’s outside, she said “I can’t get over these phones”.
She stashed the illicit earnings there and passed along messages to her conspirators, who authorities believe earned millions in the illegal scheme.
Among the less famous: Vanessa Potkin, director of post-conviction relief for the Innocence Project, a nonprofit dedicated to exonerating the wrongly convicted.
Kim took part to the celebrations too, taking to Twitter to share her happiness with the world.
