Aliona Vilani: ‘This was my last series of Strictly Coming Dancing’
Strictly Come Dancing’s Aliona Vilani has announced she is leaving the BBC One show, three days after winning the glitterball trophy with Jay McGuiness.
Aliona joined SCD back in 2007 and previously bagged the glitter ball trophy with McFly’s Harry Judd.
The lovely dancer announced the news on Twitter, writing: “Going into this Strictly Come Dancing Series13, I decided that no matter what would happen, it will be my last one [sic]”.
In another tweet, she added: “After 7 years on Strictly Come Dancing, as my finale, this has been my best Strictly experience ever by a long way!”
Despite placing third on the judges’ leaderboard in the final, the pair beat EastEnders actress Kellie Bright and Coronation Street star Georgia May Foote in the public vote.
Aliona also danced with Matt Baker, Rav Wilding, Tony Jacklin and Gregg Wallace.
“What a way to go”, she wrote, declaring her jive “Strictly magic”.
Will you be sad to see Aliona leave the show?
The professional dancer, who guided The Wanted singer Jay McGuiness to victory this season, has told fans her triumphant turn on 2015 run would be her last.
Her departure is the second from the regular roster of “Strictly” professionals in recent times, with Ola Jordan ruling herself out of future series after she claimed in The Sun that the four judges “routinely over-marked” their favourite contestants.
