Alison Lee, Xi Yu Lin share lead in LPGA Malaysia
No pressure today. It’s like a little more simple. But with the lead firmly in her grasp after a second-round 6-under-par 65 at the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia Friday, Jang’s hoping this won’t be her fourth runner-up but instead her first LPGA Tour win.
Lin is now on her sophomore year on the tour and also chasing her first ever victory. “A lot of short irons and when you have a lot of opportunities you got to make those birdie putts”.
Tied for sixth, Lee is trailing Korea’s Ha Na Jang by three. 15 and 16 en route to a 69.
“After seeing that, definitely motivates me to be able to win”. “I pretty much had two bad approach shots. Kind of went downhill, but really looking forward to tomorrow”.
This is her first professional appearance since the emotional debacle at the Solheim Cup, which left her in tears.
Lee made her debut at the Solheim Cup in Germany last month in which Suzann Pettersen called for a penalty on her after the rookie picked up a short putt during a match play event.
Ko was tied for 18th at 6 under after a 65.
Lydia Ko, who became the youngest major champion with her victory at the Evian Championship, fired an opening-round 71 and top-ranked Inbee Park ended the day tied-10th.
Park started the round tied for tenth after carding a three-under 68 on Thursday – a score which she considers poor by her own high standards. The Norwegian star had a double bogey and four bogeys.
The event is the first of five straight in Asia.
