Alison Parker and Adam Ward Died From Multiple Gunshot Wounds
Flanagan had been fired from the station in 2013.
Vicki Gardner, a chamber of commerce official, was answering questions about the community on live TV when the gunfire erupted.
Vicki Gardner, who was being interviewed, lost a kidney and part off her colon from being shot in the back by Vester Flanagan.
On Wednesday, Flanagan shot Alison Parker, 24-year-old reporter from WBDJ7 News in Virginia and her cameraman, 27-year-old Adam Ward.
“He shot three times at my wife and she was trying to dodge everything”, Tim Gardner said. Gardner said Flanagan stood over her, attempting to shoot several more times, but his gun misfired. “But she wasn’t sure he was gone so she just laid there playing possum until first responders showed up”.
Citing a federal law enforcement source, USA Today said Flanagan had legally bought two Glock handguns, including the one used in the attack.
Cameraman Adam Ward’s cause of death was given as gunshot wounds to the head and torso.
Vester Lee Flanagan, the former TV news reporter who fatally gunned down journalists from the WDBJ TV news station he once worked at, found racism in everyday phrases.
Mrs Gardner recalls standing up after the shooter left, despite being shot in the back. “She did that for me, so she’s definitely not a racist”.
While those words are commonplace in the news industry, the words set off Flanagan, who colleagues say thought many things were racist jabs. She was rushed to a hospital and was in stable condition after undergoing surgery.
“I’m going to do something, whatever it takes, to get gun legislation, to shame people, to shame legislators into doing something about closing loopholes and background checks, and making sure insane people don’t get guns”, Andy Parker, the father of Alison Parker, said Wednesday night on Fox News. “You have a voice, you need to use that voice”.
McBroom thanked viewers and said the station’s staff is hurting. The fact that he accused Alison of saying “oh there’s Cotton Fields Road, I know someone who lives on that” and that was a racial slur and she said it with a smirk – there was no smirk in Alison Parker.
