All Clear Given After Bomb Threat At Jewish Community Center
Crews searched the area and found no evidence of a bomb.
New Castle County police are on the scene of another bomb threat at the Siegel Jewish Community Center north of Wilmington.
Centers in Miami, Newton, Massachusetts, Scotch Plains and Woodbridge, N.J., and Marin County, California and Portland, Maine were targeted.
St. Louis Park’s Sabes Jewish Community Center (JCC), as well as the Barry Family Campus in Minneapolis, were safely evacuated this morning after a bomb threat was received over the phone.
Bomb threats were called into 16 institutions across the Northeast and South on January 9, and hundreds of people were evacuated. “She advised that there was a bomb inside the building”, Rocheleau said.
“While we’re extremely proud of our JCCs for professionally handling yet another threatening situation, we are concerned about the anti-Semitism behind these threats”. The caller responded to several questions asked by the receptionist.
West Bloomfield police could not be reached for comment.
A Scotch Plains police auto was parked near the entrance of the facility late Wednesday morning.
This is the third time in recent weeks that the Jewish Community Center in Maitland has been evacuated.
The Mayerson Jewish Community Center, on Ridge Road, offers a gym, a senior center, preschool, after-school programs, camps and other programs. Last week, the Federal Bureau of Investigation was called in, she said.
Another Facebook post around 11:30 a.m. said the building had been reopened. “Unfortunately, it’s the world we live in”. Threats were also made against multiple American Jewish groups on two dates earlier in January, Miller said. It was a woman telling them to evacuate because of a bomb.
Detectives are actively investigating and have already been in contact with other agencies, Rocheleau said.
