All Eyez on Me: Watch the first teaser for the Tupac biopic
All Eyez On Me has had a troubled inception, with at least three directors attached themselves to the project and then departing over the five years since it was announced, including Antoine Fuqua, Carl Franklin, and John Singleton.
Today would have marked Tupac Shakur’s 45th birthday, an occasion which has become an annual remembrance of his life cut short. The two are joined by Danai Gurira (Afeni Shakur), Stefon Washington (Puff Daddy), Kat Graham (Jada Pinkett), Grace Gibson (Faith Evans), Dominic L. Santana (Suge Knight), Jarrett Ellis (Snoop Dogg), and Harold House Moore (Dr. Dre).
“Son this ain’t just about you. Like all black men you have a bullseye on your back”, she says. Jamal Woolard will reprise his role as the late Notorious B.I.G., a role he played to acclaim in the 2009 biopic about 2Pac’s friend-turned-rival. All Eyez On Me was partiall filmed in Atlanta, Georgia, and completed production in Las Vegas in April.
The film is directed by music video and film director Benny Boom, the Verge reports. I also spotted Hill Harper in the trailer.
All Eyez on Me rocks the mic in theaters November 2016.
A release date for the film, which will focus on his rise as Death Row Records’ most notable rapper, various run-ins with the law, romance and his fatal drive-by shooting, is yet to be announced.
