All set for NA-19 by-poll on Sunday
The victory of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Baber Nawaz Khan would be celebrated by the people on the same venue on August 16 to thank the Almighty for putting the country into right hands, Dr Kirmani said. However, the apex court later ordered a re-election on the seat after hearing a review petition in the case. In a letter to the electric company, the commission said that it would introduce bio-metric machines in the bye-election for test-run and for accomplishing the task un-interrupted power supply in Haripur district till the completion of polling process should be ensured. The ECP has also announced that it would be using biometric machines at 30 selected polling stations in the constituency on an experimental basis.
There are a total of 577480 registered voters in the constituency, while 513 polling stations have been set out of which 42 stations have been declared highly sensitive, 200 sensitive and 262 as normal.
According to unofficial results, PML-N candidate bagged 95,022 votes while Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Raja Amir was runners-up with 78,129 votes.
KP Governor Sardar Mehtab Khan, Federal Information Minister Pervez Rashid, National Assembly Deputy Speaker Javed Murtaza Abbasi and senior PML-N office-bearers have separately campaigned for Babar Nawaz Khan in the constituency.
Dr Kirmani also said that the PTI government in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa had not lived up to its election pledges and it had miserably failed to initiate any project of clean drinking water and establish any educational institute or health facilities. Reham Khan, wife of PTI Chairman Imran Khan, led the PTI candidate’s election campaign.
