All the Details on Apple’s New iMacs and iMac Accessories
Apple today updated the entire iMac family, bringing a new Retina 4K display (4096×2304) with 9.4 million pixels to the 21.5-inch iMac for the first time and the Retina 5K display(14.7 million pixels) to every 27-inch iMac, seven times more pixels than an HD display.
The technology giant redesigned Magic devices including the Magic keyboard, Magic Mouse 2 and Magic Trackpad 2.
Apple is adding Retina displays to its iMacs, which will enhance the text and the image quality of photos and videos. The updated iMacs also feature more powerful processors and graphics, two Thunderbolt 2 ports and new storage options. However, it will make the content that you’re consuming or creating more “mesmerizing”. “We’ve been eager to sink our teeth into a new Mac, so we’ve brought home a fresh, locally-sourced refresh of the 21.5” iMac: “the iMac Intel 21.5” EMC 2889.
Meanwhile, the 27-inch 5K iMac clocked at 3.3GHz and powered by the Intel Core i5-6600 processor garnered a single-core score of 4,214 and multi-core score of 13,081.
However, the new features on the new Apple Magic Keyboard may not be your cup of tea, and there are actually many reasons why you may not want to upgrade to the new keyboard.
However, it’s bit odd that Apple’s new Magic Keyboard come with less key travel this time around, as it’s mostly a feature to save space on the MacBook, whereas you don’t need to do that with a dedicated keyboard.
The 21.5-inch 4K iMac will start around $1,499 while the 27-inch 5K iMac will start at $1,799. Traditional LEDs have done a better job with blues, and the new LEDs are created to even out how reds, greens, and blues are represented.
Apart from the new 4K iMac model, the company has upgraded last year’s 27in iMac with the six-generation Intel Core processors and dedicated AMD Radeon R9 M395 graphics. The new trackpad almost doubles the price tag of the old model, now costing $129.
Magic Mouse 2 and Magic Keyboard are Bluetooth 4.0, but the great thing about them is that they can also work with older Bluetooth standards. All of the accessories are now rechargeable via a Lightning cable, which means that you won’t go through AA batteries to keep them running. With a new scissor mechanism and lower profile, the Magic Keyboard provides an incredibly stable, precise and comfortable typing experience. But there isn’t a Magic Keyboard 2, just a Magic Keyboard, because the previous model of the keyboard was called the Apple Wireless Keyboard.
