All-Transgender Modeling Agency is Set to Launch

Andreja Pejic is the first ever transgender model to land a major cosmetics campaign – and this is just the beginning.

With Hari Nef signed to IMG and Andreja Pejic making make-up modeling history, it’s been a good year for transpeople in the fashion industry – and it’s about to get even better because there’s now a trans-exclusive modeling agency in the game, dubbed Apple Model Management. Sometime in the next few months, Apple Model will open a branch in Los Angeles, and become the world’s first ever modeling agency to feature exclusively transgender models.

A shift towards beauty billboards and catwalks being more representative of the real world looks set to gather pace thanks to Apple Models.

But the L.A. office is only interested in transgender models, and in fact has put out a hiring call. The company’s US agency director is Cecilio Asuncion, a film-maker whose recent documentary What’s The T? chronicled the struggles and triumphs of five transgender women.

‘Our strong commitment to developing them as successful models is never about quantifying or qualifying their gender, ‘ says Asuncion.

Asuncion said that the full potential of trans models hasn’t been reached and that “this has to change”. “Escape from the Overworld”, Danica’s MG Minecraft novel is available wherever Minecraft-themed books are sold.
