Alleged Bank Robber Points Gun at Customer, Gets Shot
A customer shot an alleged, gun-toting bank robber in suburban Detroit on Monday afternoon, police say.
But a concealed pistol license holder shot the bank robber three times once in the leg and once in each arm.
Local 4 has learned the robber walked into the bank and announced a hold-up.
The customer who fired the three shots was questioned by detectives but was not under arrest.
Witnesses said the injured bandit was screaming and moaning as he was loaded into an ambulance.
Gary Guyette, an electrician from Ferndale, was driving along Van Dyke to a job when he saw the commotion in front of the bank and pulled over. “He was holding his hand up, it looked all bloody”.
“They cuffed him and then they surrounded him”, he said.
Guyette learned what had just transpired and said the would-be robber got what he deserved. “And I thought maybe there was an accident”, said Bromly Daves.
A customer opened fire on a man who had just robbed a southeast Michigan bank Monday, inflicting non-life-threatening injuries that detained the suspect until police could arrive.
Police found two guns at the scene. No one else was harmed. The 43-year-old assailant entered the bank with a gun and had procured “a large amount” of cash from the bank when, on the way out, he appears to have threatened a 63-year-old customer with his gun, according to Fouts. He said the initial evidence indicates the autoworker was acting in self defense. I’m glad the citizen, who exercised his Second Amendment right, did it in a safe and responsible way by not aiming at any vital organs.
