Alleged Xiaomi Mi 5 Leaked Image Hints Of Metal Frame
While photos of an alleged black version of the Mi 5 had previously surfaced, this is the first time we have visual confirmation of the curved display. The leaked images show a sleek design phone with the front panel curving towards the sides of the handset. It stated that the Xiaomi Mi 5 will be announced on Saturday, Feb 20. Nonetheless, analysts think that other markets should soon see the Xiaomi Mi 5 on shelves soon enough, just like other launches.
Several press renders of the smartphone leaked online over the past couple of weeks, so we also know what the Mi5 might look like.
Earlier in January this year, Xiaomi co-founder Liwan Jiang confirmed that the Mi 5 will be launched in February this year.
Android Headlines speculated that the company will be debuting two variants of the Xiaomi Mi 5: one will be the lower-end version which will have a 5.1-inch Full HD display, and the standard premium version which will have the Quad HD display. The Xiaomi is rumored to sport a 16MP rear camera and a 13MP camera on the front for selfies. The higher variant of the device will get 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of onboard storage. The software will be Android 6.0 Marshmallow with MIUI 7 on top, according to more recent benchmark tests. The Mi 5 is expected to come out with a 3600mAh battery featuring quick charge 3.0 technology.
Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun already updated his official Weibo account saying the device will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC. Previous rumours suggest that the much awaited Xiaomi Mi5 will sport a massive 4 GB of RAM.
According to an International Data Corporation (IDC) report, Xiaomi was the fifth largest smartphone vendor in Q3 2015 and shipped 18.3 million units, including the Redmi Note 2, Redmi 2A Prime and Mi 4c.
