Alli scores twice as Spurs end Chelsea’s 13-game winning run
Spurs successfully held onto a 2-0 lead against Chelsea, something they were unable to do past year. There have been fears their form could suffer should players such as Diego Costa or Eden Hazard suffer injuries in the second half of the season.

Spurs moved into third place as they beat Chelsea 2-0 under the lights at The Lane.
A tap-in from Diego Costa put the Blues in front before Kane levelled with a 20-yard stunner and Danny Rose put Spurs ahead with a rebound. Chelsea play three centre halves but Gary Cahill had gone out wide to engage Kyle Walker, while David Luiz was more concerned with stepping up than marking the attacker.
In the end it was decided by two carbon-copy goals either side of halftime – both created by the precision of Tottenham’s Danish playmaker Christian Eriksen.
Pedro scored twice and Hazard won and converted a penalty in a club-record 12th straight Premier League win.
Tottenham comfortably closed out a victory to serve emphatic notice of their own title ambitions against the opponents who so relished ending them last time around.
The back three at one club or another has been a constant at the top of club football since coming into existence before even the back four.
Tottenham came flying out of the gates in the second half, absorbing pressure from Chelsea and launching ruthless counter-attacks in reply. The pace of Alli and Eriksen, furthermore, will be hard for the ageing Cahill and Luiz to contend with. This was certainly not one for the Kane highlight reel. Going man-for-man with Chelsea.
But I think that, perhaps accidentally, this comparison isn’t entirely unjust.
They kept Chelsea at bay while on the back foot before hitting back with a second goal. In their ballyhooed 3-4-3 formation, they appeared unbeatable. Already there’s a two-on-two in the middle, which could be engineered in Spurs’ favour if Eriksen was to drop deeper at times. However, Kurt Zouma might get a look in towards the end of the game as Conte will look forward to playing him into the first eleven.
Home advantage could be key.
