Almost 1.5 Million People Don’t Have Drinking Water In Puerto Rico
It’s been one week since Hurricane Maria slammed into Puerto Rico, leaving the island’s 3.5 million residents without food, water, gasoline or electricity.
The federal government had already responded with relief packages for hurricanes Harvey (Texas) and Irma (Florida).

“The Trump administration’s response to the destruction in Puerto Rico has been wholly inadequate”, Rep. Adam Smith, D-Wash., said in a recent statement.
He said Puerto Ricans are “great people and we need to help them”. Eighty percent of the island’s transmission lines are down, and power may not be restored for more than a month.
He said the meeting may also help estimate how many local families hope to help their loved ones in Puerto Rico move to the Reading area.
Hurricanes Maria and Irma killed 13 people on the island – with Maria nearly completely destroying telecommunication networks last week. “And it has been rough, it has been hard”, McKay said.
“Congress is working with the administration to ensure necessary resources get to the USA territory”. The first three flights all carried volunteers and more than 13,000 pounds of supplies including cots, tarps, generators, food and water. The situation could easily lead to a “humanitarian crisis,” Gov. Ricardo Rosselló said.
“Everybody has said it’s fantastic the job we have done in Puerto Rico”.
“He helps to track when patients are being airlifted from an island to a medical facility here in the United States or one of the other islands”.
“There’s a lot of people out there that are in the same boat as me”.
Trump, speaking later on Tuesday, during a news conference alongside Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy, said a “massive effort” was underway in Puerto Rico to help the flattened US territory recover.
Denying he was preoccupied by his feud with the National Football League, Trump said Tuesday, “I have plenty of time on my hands”. The Puerto Rico governor asked for urgent federal aid to deal with “unprecedented” destruction.
