Almost all contact lens wearers in national survey report risky eye care
Over a third of the surveyed users of contacts reported they had sought medical care for painful red eyes related to the wearing of contact lenses.
Over half said that they had slept overnight with their lenses in and more than 87% admitted they had fallen asleep in their contacts at some point, making napping the most common offense. Over 82 percent of the respondents also used their lens cases past the recommended time frame, while 35 percent of them used tap water to clean their lenses, which is extremely bad for contacts.
