Alshon Jeffery misses Chicago Bears practice with hamstring tightness
Also questionable for Sunday’s game is outside linebacker Pernell McPhee, who missed his second straight practice with wrist and knee issues, and defensive tackle Ego Ferguson (knee). Coach John Fox said Jeffery experienced tightness in his hamstring after Thursday’s practice.
“He’ll be day-to-day and questionable for the game”, Fox said.
After almost a month of inactivity, Chicago Bears wide out Alshon Jeffery practiced on a limited basis during Packers week, then he went out and led the Bears with 78 yards receiving on 5 catches. He was not listed on the injury report on Wednesday or Thursday.
Not having Jeffery would be a definite blow for an offense that was looking to do more with him, Eddie Royal and Marquess Wilson after they dealt with injuries in the preseason. If Jeffery plays, he won’t be close to 100 percent. “But we’ve got plenty of receivers that are capable of stepping up in there and getting the job done”. They play in a tough division of the NFC north and I think they could give the Packers a run for their money but I believe they will fall short of the Packers for the division and also the playoffs.
Fox didn’t elaborate on Jeffery’s injury, just giving it the “day-to-day” label he applies to most. “He’s a great player”.
Jeffery was held of out practice on Friday with a hamstring injury. “We don’t have another Alshon on the team, so obviously it [would] hurt”.
Willie Young was the third outside linebacker in the Week 1 rotation, and Lamarr Houston would be in line to play more if McPhee sat out. He’s missed the last two practices and is listed as questionable.
Left tackle Jermon Bushrod attended practice Friday but did not participate. Acho practiced without restrictions Thursday and Friday after being limited Wednesday and missing the season opener with an undisclosed illness.
Linebacker Jon Bostic (ankle) and cornerback Tracy Porter (hamstring) were ruled out.
