Alvaro Morata: First snaps of new Chelsea star after completing £70m deal
Chelsea have announced they have agreed a fee with Real Madrid for the transfer of Alvaro Morata.
Conte has been speaking about the imminent signing of £58 million Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid but also had a word on Costa, saying that the situation was “very clear” six months ago.
Morata said: “I hope that I do well at Chelsea”.
Morata’s arrival could signal the end of his global team-mate Diego Costa’s time at Chelsea, with Costa strongly tipped for a return to Atletico Madrid.
Morata told Spanish media: “I’m going to the team managed by the coach who has placed the most faith in me, and that’s great for me”.
While it is a pre-season game, Wenger promised a competitive match against Arsenal’s London rivals at the Bird’s Nest in Beijing.
When Diego Costa revealed in May that Conte sent him a text telling the striker that he was no longer in his plans, it was just the final confirmation.
Sky Sports News understands Atletico Madrid are interested in re-signing Costa and are expected to make an offer for him.
“I’m so happy to be here”.
Gary Cahill is backing Alvaro Morata to be a big success at Chelsea following his arrival at the club from Real Madrid this week.
For much of the summer he looked set for Manchester United but the Spaniard said: ‘The most important thing is that I am here to play for Chelsea.
“For sure this transfer market is insane”, Conte said.
“Now there is insane money, if you want to buy a normal player you need to spend €40-50m”. It’s incredible this situation but we must live with it. Lukaku cost a lot of money, the same with Lacazette. For a right-back you spend 60 to 70 million euro. “Morata is a young player who has a lot of experience”.
Morata’s arrival in London could signal the end of his worldwide team-mate Diego Costa’s time at Chelsea, with the latter strongly tipped for a return to Atletico Madrid.
“I think for sure this is a good signing for us”.
“The second season after you’re champions is very hard”, he said. Zouma, 22, has made 71 appearances for the Blues since joining from St Etienne in 2014.
