Amazon Black Friday Deals week is live, so start your saving

Today, a few retail workers aren’t even guaranteed that.

The mass merchants – Walmart and Target – and the retailers most at risk of losing sales to them – Best Buy, Macy’s, Toys “R” Us, J.C. Penney – have little choice but to open on Thanksgiving if the competition is doing so.

While Black Friday officially arrives on November 27, 2015, retailers across the country have been busy slashing prices in preparation of the big shopping extravaganza and millions of Americans have been pouring over the latest ad leaks and releases trying to find the best holiday steals-and-deals. Now mind you, I’m mostly going to refer to online shopping, because the mysterious ways of Black Friday deal searching in malls is not my specialty. If you know exactly what you want to buy and where you can get the best deals, then you are less likely to get sidetracked. “Black Fridays are great for people who love the big get-togethers, but it’s not for me anymore”.

Shoppers are warned to be aware of their surroundings at all times, don’t be afraid to ask for security, lock vehicle doors immediately after entering the vehicle and always shop with a partner if possible.

Those retailers can’t risk losing sales and market share to a rival by remaining closed on Thanksgiving.

“Those taxes support the infrastructure and the school and everything in Hall County”, she said. And don’t forget that sense of humor – you may need it!

Irrespective of whether or not every day is a chance to splash the cash, there are still those who prefer the conventional way of holiday spending.

“I don’t think you can stand out on Black Friday”, he said.

“Some people do it with you their family in a group like my family does”, said the Wilmington native. While this is a prominent issue when online shopping, it might not be when in store. These deals will run during the course of the week in the lead-up to Black Friday.

Despite the outcry from shoppers, both local and national, the long hours provide retail workers extra hours at a time of year when many could use the money – something Ann Comstock said can be an important factor.

“You grumbled about it”, she said.

“(Corporate) thought that was the best shopping experience for our shoppers”, Weidner said.

Studies suggest about 25 percent of online purchases are impulse buys, compared with 45 percent of in-store purchases, he said.
