Amazon Captures ‘Mr. Robot’ Streaming Rights
We’re delighted to bring Mr. Robot exclusively to Amazon Prime members in the United Kingdom. This is hands down one of the best and freshest shows on TV and has had critics and audiences raving around the world.
The 10-episode freshman season of the show from Universal Cable Productions will be available to streaming, subscribers in the USA, U.K., Germany, Austria and Japan, the report notes.
New York-set “Mr. Robot” stars Rami Malek (“The Pacific”) as the paranoid and a-social Elliot, an info-security engineer by day and vigilante hacker by night. The deal gives Amazon another title in the exclusive-streaming-rights battlefield against competitors Netflix and Hulu.
“Prime members are going to love binging on this awesome show”, said Brad Beele, Amazon’s VP of video content acquisition. He wields his skills as a weapon to protect the people that he cares about. Amazon Prime members in these countries will be able to stream the show from Friday the 16th of October.
“Mr. Robot is a tremendous success and Amazon Prime has provided a great opportunity to make the show even more accessible to audiences”, said NBCUniversal Television and New Media Distribution president Frances Manfredi.
“Mr Robot” was created by Sam Esmail (“Comet“), who also serves as executive producer alongside Anonymous Content’s Steve Golin (“True Detective“) and Chad Hamilton (“Breakup at a Wedding“).
