Amazon.com Reportedly Developing Higher-End Alexa Speaker
Two people who are familiar with the project told the publication that the relevance of the screen was to make it easier for users to access various features such as weather forecasts, news, and daily appointments.
The new Echo will also supposedly come with a much-needed speaker upgrade.
Amazon is planning to capitalize on the success of its Alexa speakers by launching a high-end model with improved speakers and a built-in touchscreen, according to a new report. The report mentioned Amazon’s big sale on top tech products such as the Alexa-enabled portable Bluetooth speaker called the Amazon Tap. Over 30 percent also use it to request specific information from Amazon’s Alexa assistant, and smart home control is also increasingly being used. Google Home is looking to take on Amazon’s Echo by tapping into Google services and closely aligning with Google’s Chromecast streaming adapter. With tablets, TV sticks and Echo products all under $50, it made it possible for more people than ever to get access to them. Google released its own Google Home intelligence speaker earlier this year, and there have already been murmurs that Apple is working on building a home device using its digital assistant Siri. The new device will have a higher price, sources told Bloomberg.
Alexa can respond to voice commands with actions such as setting an alarm, or simply by providing a spoken answer to a question. According to a report, the next Amazon Echo device is going to feature a touchscreen display. But it did note that sales of Echo devices were up 7X from Cyber Monday previous year; Fire tablet sales were up 2X; and Fire TV sales were up more than 2.5X. They also claim that it will run on a custom version of Fire OS. Yes, it has a built-in speaker, though it’s not quite as good as the one in the full-sized Echo.
