Amazon Flex: crowdsourced delivery program or package pickup service?
Amazon already provides a self-pickup service via Amazon Lockers, but it is still dependent on a courier delivering the items, has shipping rates, and all goods have size and weight limits; issues that collecting a package from the source would avoid.
The retail giant’s Kirkland property will most likely be the first to launch Flex, as reported by GeekWire.
A photo taken at the facility the program is being tested reads: Please take a ticket located behind you.
Amazon hasn’t officially responded to requests for comments about GeekWire’s discovery, but it appears from a sign posted on the site that Amazon Flex is going to allow for Amazon customers to pick up Prime Now packages at a specific center. Please look for your number on the top corner of the wall on your left. Of course, we all know how hard Amazon is working to get its Prime Air drone delivery program off the ground.
There are indications that the company’s new Kirkland, Wash., the facility will implement the Amazon Flex as the new method of distributing packages, that even the customers can pick up by themselves.
Amazon Flex is still under wraps and the company hasn’t said anything about it, but there is some speculation as to how it will work.
Seattle locations may also become Amazon.com, Inc.
According to various government licenses acquired by Amazon, the location has been cleared to sell beer, wine, liquor, and food.
Free Prime Same-Day Delivery is now being added to the Seattle/Tacoma area, San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, Phoenix, Dallas/Ft.
In terms of the Prime Now one-hour delivery expansion in the Seattle region, it seems that is the next move since planning documents have reportedly indicated that Amazon is moving in.
