Amazon Go: Grocery shopping with no cash, no lines
The 1,800-square-foot supermarket gives a glimpse into how Amazon plans to revolutionize physical retail with a high-tech convenience store and an app. Amazon said it will be sell well known brands and some new brands.
Amazon has just started testing its futuristic grocery store dubbed “Amazon Go”, which allows customers to simply walk in, pick up their goods and walk out, without having to use any cash register or wait in long checkout lines. It’s similar to the kind of technology used in self-driving cars.
Amazon has opened a store where you NEVER have to queue Amazon employees outside the Amazon Go brick-and-mortar shop What is Amazon Go and how does it work? There’s no checking out. you just walk out.
There is now only one store in the world and it is located in the Seattle, Washington. The cost of the shopping is then deducted from the card associated with an Amazon account. The entire store will function with sensors, computer vision and deep learning.
Calling it “Just Walk In Technology”, Amazon described the innovation as a mix of “computer vision, deep learning algorithms and sensor fusion much like a self-driving auto”. Just browse and shop like you would at any other store. It will also offer ready-to-eat meals, fresh snacks and “chef-designed” Amazon Meal Kits, which include ingredients needed to make a meal for two in about 30 minutes. According to Amazon, it’s right around the corner – at least in Seattle.
Amazon provides its customers with Just Walk Out Shopping experience. It will open to the public in early 2017.
When combined with browsing activities on the traditional Amazon site, the company could better market the recommended products they suggest to consumers every time they’re online.
Nearly a year ago Google introduced a payment method called Hands Free that would allow you to go to a retailer and pay for your purchases without swiping your credit card.
