Amazon Go Just Revolutionized Grocery Shopping in Seattle #USCities
Amazon wants to make shopping at the grocery store so easy that it’s nearly like you don’t shop at all.
It may feel a bit like stealing, but the way it works is you go into the store, grab the food you want, then walk right out the door.
Amazon has disrupted the retail industry once again, with the launch of its automatic Amazon Go format which will begin serving digitally-savvy Seattle customers in the new year.
Amazon unveiled its cashier-less grocery store in Seattle on Monday, without any word as to whether it planned to open more locations.
Amazon Go is similarly designed so the store automatically knows which products shoppers have taken from their shelves, adding those products to a digital shopping cart, and knows when they’ve left the store.
This is all part of Amazon’s vision of what the future of shopping will be. These, along with the RFID sensors that tell when you enter and exit the store, will help Amazon track what you buy.
The Amazon Go is envisioned to allow customers to pick up whatever they want off the shelves and simply walk out with it. If the shopper puts the product back down, it will cancelled from the list. Computer software will monitor customers and charge people’s bills when they pick up items and leave the store with them. But the company said that the store will eventually be opened to the public early in 2017.
This awesome creation was conceptualized about four years ago and now this new experience is only accessible to Amazon employees. The discount chain store will reportedly cover span over an area of 4000 square foot.

There’s rumours from leaks that Amazon will possibly open 2000 of these stores across the country. There are also essentials such as bread and milk, as well as high-end cheese and chocolate. It’s open as a beta program only for Amazon employees.
Supermarket retailers Woolworths Limited (ASX: WOW) and Coles – owned by Wesfarmers Ltd (ASX: WES) are already trying to use technology to cut down costs via its self-serve checkouts.
Amazon says there will be well-known brands as well as “special finds we’re excited to introduce to customers”.
