Amazon’s Fire Tablet Being sold in 6-Packs for $250
While Amazon didn’t dive deepinto the specifics, the tablet will offer quite a decent set of specifications for its price point.
Amazon also unveiled new versions of the Fire HD tablet: the Fire HD 8, from just £150 and the Fire HD 10 that costs from £230 (pictured below).
“Today, we’re taking another step in our mission to deliver premium products at non-premium prices”, said Jeff Bezos, Amazon.com CEO.
The new tablet will also feature a quad-core processor, front and rear facing cameras and up to 128GB of expandable storage.
Amazon also announced a new Fire Kids Edition for $100. The new gaming edition comes with a new controller, 32GB microSD card, and two included games. (Sadly, you can not control your Fire TV using Alexa on the Echo yet.) Both TV devices have third-party games and the usual streaming apps.
All three Fire tablets will offer the new Fire OS 5 Bellini software so the user experience across them all will be the same, even if the speed differs slightly.
Elsewhere, the Amazon Fire TV’s internal hardware specifications have also seen a boost.
Amazon just took the wraps under the latest Fire TV, and just like the leak stated, it sports 4K video and improved voice search thanks to integrated Alexa support.
As well as the two new streaming devices, Amazon confirmed a complete refresh of their tablet line-up, with the e-commerce giant’s high-end device family with the Fire HD 8 and Fire HD 10 tablets – the numbers denoting the size of each device’s screen.
If their first attempt to make a smartphone was far from being a success, the folks over Amazon did pretty good with their tablet line-up.
The new Amazon Fire TV is available for pre-order for $99.99 and the Amazon Fire TV Gaming Edition is $139.99.
The eight-inch version comes in black, magenta, blue, and organge, while the 10.1-inch model is available in simple black and white.
The Fire begins shipping on September 30. That’s like buying five tablets for $50.00 each and then getting a sixth one for free. So it’s now coming in at $99.99, making it a great value for kids, especially with that huge bumper case that is said to be “kid-proof”. It will cost a cheaper $150.
