Amazon says it’s on pace for its ‘best Cyber Monday in history’
Forbes reports that Cyber Monday is expected to see $3.36 billion in sales this year.
For Cyber Monday, Adobe projected $3.36 billion in receipts, which represents a 9.4 percent increase from the year before. Sales are already up 7.6 percent since November 1.
Holiday shoppers have been flocking to the internet in record numbers this weekend – leading up to the big event known as “Cyber Monday”. Online sales for the 5-day period starting with the Thanksgiving Day totaled $11.11 million, up 17 percent year-over-year, with Cyber Monday alone accounting for $3.07 billion.
Sony’s PlayStation 4 was the most popular electronics item on Cyber Monday.
During the holiday shopping weekend that kicks off on Thanksgiving and the day afterward known as Black Friday, more and more shoppers decide to skip the mayhem in stores and buy online.
Grose says at Cabela’s they use their store as a warehouse – filling online orders in our region with supplies from our local store in Rogers. That’s compared to past year, when shoppers were more evenly split, with 103 million browsing online and 102 million in stores.
“It was filled with shoppers looking for ideas”, Cohen said.
Interestingly, the margin between Black Friday mobile sales and Cyber Monday’s mobile sales was small, suggesting that mobile retail during Black Friday will only gain popularity by next year’s shopping.
The week-long event also showed shoppers channel-hopping offline and online through mobile and desktop devices.
It turns out eBay was on to something with its newly minted “Mobile Wednesday”, the day before Thanksgiving when it expected travellers to shop from the road.
From Nov. 1 to Nov. 28, online revenue totaled $39.97 billion, a 7.6 percent increase compared to previous year, according to Adobe. Similar deals were offered at Wal-Mart and Target.
