Amazon Steals Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, And James — Top Gear’ Hosts
Clarkson, who had generated both controversy and profits for Britain’s publicly-funded broadcaster, had been on a final warning over accusations last year that he had used racist language while filming the show.
Since Jeremy Clarkson was forced to leave the BBC after getting upset about a plate of food, speculation has been swirling about where the controversial but hugely popular former Top Gear presenter could go next.
The ex-hosts of BBC’s Top Gear television series have signed a deal with Amazon for a new vehicle show.
We’re talking about how Top Gear fans reacted to the news that the trio have signed a deal with Amazon.
Jay Marine, Amazon Prime Video EU’s VP, said: “Customers told us they wanted to see the team back on screen, and we are excited to make that happend”. Now it’s the new show by Clarkson, Hammond and May. Former executive producer Andy Wilman will also be joining the trio for the deal.
After the BBC’s leadership decided to part ways with Clarkson, Hammond said, “We’re all three of us idiots in our different ways but it’s been an incredible ride together. Ironic, isn’t it?” he said.
Jeremy Clarkson has changed his bio on Twitter to reflect the change and even cracked a few jokes. The program was one the BBC’s most valuable global brands. Do it, Amazon! The world has to know! The elite service is nearly continually adding new perks.
Amazon Prime now provides free access to over 15,000 movies and TV episodes, as well as 50,000 more to rent or buy. It was said Clarkson was hoping to make the new ITV show as “anarchic, edgy, and funny” as Top Gear was before his firing. But the three hosts who made it what it was are coming to Amazon Instant Video instead. It represents a threat to the newly-launched Apple Music. But for Jeremy Clarkson and his chums, Bezos and his billions offer an open road, away from the strictures of the BBC.
